History

Bowmen of the Peak archery club was founded in November 1952 by a small group of people interested in archery. Over the years we have had several different venues including Sparkbottom Farm in Tunstead Milton; Chinley Youth Club and Chapel High School.

We currently shoot outdoors at Dove Holes sports field behind the community centre and indoors at St. Thomas More Catholic School.

Our past members include a paralympian (Marjorie Cooper), an England team member (Steve Brunt), a current Archery GB para team member (Hazel Chaisty) as well as regional champions (Lynn Jones and Steve Brunt) and county champions (Marjorie Cooper, Harold Ashcroft, Graeme Peatfield, Eddie Rowbottom, Geoff Myers, Steve Brunt). We have current members who have been Derbyshire champions at both junior and senior level (Tony and Shelagh Fletcher). Tony was the English Archery Federation Masters champion in 2010.

Bowmen of the Peak won the Derbyshire team trophy on numerous occasions since the 1950’s.
